Traditional techniques workshops: painting, plastering and dyeing, using natural pigments.
Located in the heart of the ochre massif, in Roussillon, Luberon, the former Mathieu ochre factory is a centre for materials and colour. The 5-hectares site where the ochre used to be washed has retained all the character of this industry and the 2000m2 of former ochre mills today house the conservatory, a place to practice and learn about the colour. It is open all year round for enthusiasts as well as professionals. The Conservatory is equally a place to pass on and share techniques.
The courses enable you to discover and use ochre and other materials used for dyeing. These workshops address a wide range of themes and activities such as:
- Traditional lime plasters
- Plant dye workshop (indigo, madder and dyers rocket)
- Mosaics, creation and technique
- Oil painting techniques
- Decorative paper, structures and materials
- Varnish, finishes and dyes for wood.
