Biking stay "RELAX" at Mont Ventoux

What about "relaxing" as you bike along the Mont Ventoux roads ... on an electric bicycle ! Ride through the Nesque river canyons and the Sault highlands ! Come for a stay, drop your bags, and off you go ! At La Roubaude, in Méthamis, a gîte can welcome groups - take advantage of the grounds, the lake, relax by the poolside in season, enjoy a hike.

At the le Leyrac guest rooms, in Villes-sur-Auzon, you are surrounded by vineyards in this former convent and adjoining chapel.

In Villes-sur-Auzon, rent your electric bicycle at Vélo Relax du Ventoux, where Françoise and Michel can help you, make recommendations, and prepare your equipment. Countless itineraries are available, all as beautiful as the next: - the family circuit in the Nesque river canyons, from Villes sur Auzon to Monieux, with a picnic by the lakeside. From Villes-sur-Auzon, take the magnificent former coach road which connects the plains to the Sault highlands.

Along the road, you can see the water collectors carved into the stone.
Stop at the panoramic viewing point at the Rocher du Cire, where the poem "Calendal" by Frédéric Mistral is posted. In Monieux, make a visit to the Ventoux Truffle Museum and museum of art egg cups. Picnic by the lake.

Go to Sault to see the gorgeous gourmand shop featuing the products made by Nougats Boyer, or visit the museum, which has a genuine Egyptian mummy !

Family circuit in the plains to the ochre lands in Mormoiron, with a picnic by the banks of Salettes lake and ziplining fun. From Villes-sur-Auzon, go the the Sablons forest in Mormoiron, a former open-sky ochre-mining site.
Enjoy a walk in the poine forest and around Salettes lake.
Enjoy a picnic by the lake.
Then take to the treetops with Ventoux Aventure and discover another facet of the landscape, with beautiful views of Mont Ventoux.

One of our favourite things: in July and August, the Carpentras tourism office organises outings with donkeys to carry the gear, to discover this ochre site and its remaining vestiges such as settling basins, galleries, ochre sheds, in a beautiful, preserved natural setting with many local species of trees.

Afterwards there is a free workshop for children on the use of ochre-based paints. 3,17 and 31 July / 14, 21 and 28 August / Start at 9am, lasts 2 hours. Price: 8 ¤/adults, 6 ¤ children 6 to 12. Book ahead with the Carpentras Tourism Office: 04 90 63 00 78 /Spors circuit on the road to Mont Ventoux, in the wheels of the 2009 Tour de France. From Villes-sur-Auzon, go to Mormoiron, cross the village. Reach Bedoin. Mont Ventoux awaits you !

Take on the famous 7 curves, then the zigzags which lead you to Chalet Reynard, where you can make a stop. Then onto the very peak, to admire the view of the Alps to the north and the entire region of Provence to the south. Here you can enjoy food and drink at the "Vendran" .

Then, back to Villes-sur-Auzon. Many other itineraries can be proposed - Françoise and Michel have lots of ideas, depending on your wants. Ready, set, go !

Take advantage to explore the towns and villages in the area.

Take in the markets, walk along the piedmont of Mont Ventoux, taste the wines, take part in the events at the Terraventoux cellar in Villes-sur-Auzon, and at the Vignerons du Mont Ventoux cellar in Bedoin.
